About DC Insider
DC Insider gives taxpayers an insider’s look at the government agencies that take their money and supposedly protect and nurture them. It provides how-to tips for voters trying to solve problems, links to official and unofficial sites citizens consumers can lodge complaints, reports on agency activities and provides blogs and other forums where insiders, outsiders and interested parties can post their thoughts.
As our site grows, it will offer a steadily increasing number of specialized newsletters, RSS feeds and blogs dealing with each major subject area.
DC Insider was founded and is edited by James R. Hood, a former Associated Press executive and editor who is also the founder of Zapnews and ConsumerAffairs.com, among others.
Contributors and staff include:
- James R. Hood, editor in chief. A former deputy director of Associated Press Broadcast, vice president of UPI, founder and president of Zapnews and ConsumerAffairs.com, Hood has directed coverage of world events for decades and is recognized as a leading innovator in new media.
- Jeff Wilson, managing editor. A veteran D.C. television executive, Jeff brings his unique viewpoint to DCInsider’s coverage.
- Truman Lewis, reporter and editor for ConsumerAffairs.com, Zapnews and other news outlets. Truman has been a reporter, bureau chief and editor in Washington for more than 25 years.
- Noah Veil, A veteran reporter, correspondent, analyst, public affairs executive, p.r. operative and Hill staff, Noah has spent a lifetime lifting the veil on government foolishness and sloth.
- Jo Stevens Attorney, newspaper reporter and healthcare lobbyist, Jo brings decades of insider experience protecting the public interest on Capitol Hill.
- D.O. Volente Muckraker, columnist and longtime Washington hand, the pseudonymous D.O. has been a Washington news executive who crossed the street to work as a public affairs consultant for major corporations, then scampered back again.
- Leonard Earl Johnson, A former cook and seaman, Leonard has been reporting and writing about politics and public affairs for more than 40 years. From his base in New Orleans, he covered Hurricanes Rita and Katrina and the BP Gulf Oil Spill. He is a columnist for Les Amis de Marigny and has written extensively for ConsumerAffairs.com. His fiction has been published in several anthologies including “Louisiana in Words” (Pelican Publishing).
